Elaine Kent Obituary

Elaine Baruch Kent, 95, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026. Born on August 3, 1930, she was raised in the main line area of Philadelphia. She was a graduate of The Agnes Irwin School. She carried her love for Philadelphia with her throughout her life.

Elaine lived a long and vibrant life marked by deep devotion to her family, enduring friendships, and a spirited personality that left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Warren Thompson Kent, and her cherished sons, Tommy and Mark Kent. Despite profound loss, Elaine met life with resilience, grace, and her signature sense of humor.

In the early 1970s, she moved to Greenville, South Carolina, as Kent Manufacturing relocated its headquarters to Pickens. There she built lifelong friendships and remained deeply engaged with her family and community.

Elaine is survived by her loving daughter, Phyllis Kent Barber; her grandchildren, Kent (Lauren) Barber, Clark Barber, Tom Kent, Ann Kent, Henry Kent, and Amelia Kent; and her great-grandchildren, Lainey Barber, Livie Barber, and Thomas Barber, who brought her immense pride and joy.

Quite the character, Elaine loved a party, a big dinner, and a dirty martini on the rocks. An avid traveler who loved adventure, she cherished her dogs, enjoyed playing golf and bridge, and valued her many dear friends and devoted caretakers.

She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who loved her

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the Poinsett Club.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Isaiah 117 House
