Raymond Evensen Obituary

Raymond Ronald Evensen, age 76, passed away on March 7, 2026, in Bluffton, South Carolina.

Raymond was born on November 27, 1949, in Flushing, New York, and was lovingly adopted by Ragnvald and Margaret Evensen. He lived a life centered on family, kindness, and connecting with others. Raymond had a big heart and never met a stranger. Friends and family will fondly remember the sly smile he often wore, affectionately known as the "Ray Grin." Growing up, his children fondly recall playing all-night Uno games with him, creating laughter-filled memories that will last a lifetime. He also had a lifelong love for dogs.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Evensen; his three children, Dawn Evensen, Tracey Greenwood, and Jim Evensen; his son-in-law, Richard Greenwood; his five grandchildren, Melanie Gentile, Matthew Greenwood, Nicholas Greenwood, Kristen Greenwood, and RJ Evensen; his grandson-in-law, Steven Gentile; his great-granddaughter, Madison Gentile; his siblings, Heather Reed and Gene Evensen; his sister-in-law, Laura Evensen; his close friend, Paul Mader, whom he considered a brother; and his biological siblings, whom he joyfully reunited with later in life.

Raymond will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his warmth, humor, and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

He will be cremated, with memorial service details to be announced by the family at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
