Patricia McKenzie Obituary

Patricia Ann Lambert Amerson McKenzie 77, beloved wife of David A. McKenzie, Jr. and the widow of William Thomas "Bill" Amerson, passed away Friday, July 26, 2019 at MUSC.

Mrs. McKenzie was born a daughter of Sampson "Sam" Woodrow Lambert and Evelyn Elizabeth Avant Lambert on January 6, 1942, in Georgetown, SC. She was educated at Andrews High School but her greatest knowledge was learned in the classroom called Life. Because she chose to walk with God at a young age, Ann's faith and spiritual walk in life has been a path of enduring purity of heart without which no man shall see God. She was a devoted and faithful lifelong member of the Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served and participated throughout the years in many capacities. She was a special honorary member of the Oak Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church supporting her husband's music ministry and giving of her extra time and talents when she could be a blessing to her second church family. Her greatest success and joyous accomplishment was her fulfillment as the epitome of a true Southern Lady. The legacy of the lady affectionately called "Ms Ann" can be defined beautifully through the words of King Solomon: "Her worth is far above rubies... The heart of her husband safely trust her;...she watches over the ways of her household,... Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband, also, and he praises her,...a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praises. (Proverbs 31). Her titles include: a devoted daughter, faithful wife, beloved mother, special grandmother and great grandmother, caring sister, and trustful friend.

Ann and Bill were married on June 10, 1960 and celebrated 37 years together before his home going. Their home was blessed with: six children, Michael Amerson (Alicia), Terri Martin (Ricky), Dewayne "Square" Amerson, Julie Amerson, Reginald "Reggie" Amerson (Pam) and Dewayne "Bubba" Amerson; six grandchildren, Mikey Amerson, Emily Martin, Sydney Amerson, Christopher Fulton (Taylor), Anthony Amerson, and Macee Amerson (fiancee, Zachary Gamble); and four great grandchildren, William, Summer Grace, Sydney Grace, and Brooklyn.

On May 5, 2002, Ann and David were married and their union added another daughter to the family, Alexa M. Mason (Abnathy) and two grandsons, Elijah and Ab.

Ann was born the second sibling of five children: Evelyn Lambert, Birdell Lambert (Daisey), Thomas "Tom" Lambert (Gina) and Patsy Ward (Glenn). She is also survived by a large number of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Bill; two sons, Dewayne and Reggie; and two grandchildren, Emily and Sydney.

A Home Going Celebration will be 12PM, Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church, 8285 Saints Delight Road, Andrews, SC. Interment will follow in the Lambertown Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6-8PM, Friday, August 2, 2019 in the sanctuary of Saints Delight PH Church.

Memorials may be made in Ms. Ann's honor to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at st.jude.org, Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church, or Oak Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church.

McKenzie Funeral Home is honored to serve the McKenzie and Amerson families.
