Michael Foody Obituary

Michael Patrick Foody, age 88, died Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. A native of Syracuse, N.Y., he lived in Beaufort, SC for the past three years. Mike graduated from LeMoyne College in Syracuse in 1959 as an accounting major and worked for Ernst & Young CPA's for 35 years where he became Managing Partner in the Syracuse office. He was past president of the N.Y. Society of CPA's, Syracuse Chapter; the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce; and the Syracuse Gyro Club. He was Regent Emeritus of LeMoyne College and a member of its finance committee; Director of the Syracuse metropolitan Development Association; Director and Treasurer of the Century Club of Syracuse and Bellevue Country Club; Director of Onondaga Country Club; member of the Syracuse Golfing Bandits, and Cavalry Club. He was very active in many Syracuse fundraisers including Chairing the Boys Club Fund drive for which he received the "Man and Boy" award.

After retirement, he and his wife, Joanne, moved to Callawassie Island and he continued his involvement in many organizations and used his financial skills to assist as the Treasurer of the Callawassie Island Club and as a member of the finance committees for both St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He was a member of the Beaufort Art Association and shared his art with his friends with his beautiful Christmas cards every year. He was a devout Catholic and member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaufort, SC.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Joanne M. Dolan, his son, Michael Jr., and his brother, James T. Foody. He is survived by his wife, Judith Wegmann Foody, two daughters, Kathleen (Thomas) Abbott of Rochester, New York, Erin (Jeff) Rowe-Shilt of Austin, Texas, three stepchildren, James (Connie) Wegmann of Beaufort, SC, Brian (Rosey) Wegmann of Beaufort, SC, and Wendi (Larry) Blackburn of Keller, Texas. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12th, 2026, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 70 Lady's Island Drive, Beaufort, SC 29907 with Internment immediately following at St. Peter's Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Peter's Catholic Church "Heavan on Earth" campaign.
