Matthew Hatfield Obituary

Matthew Ryan Hatfield, 37, of Beaufort, SC, died Saturday, February 14, 2026.

Matthew was born on April 12, 1988, in Beaufort, SC. He is the son of Michael M. Hatfield and Faith Shirley Hatfield.

Surviving in addition to his mother and father; is a nephew David Cameron Hatfield, his niece Madilyn Kindle Hatfield, his counsins Christen Spicer (Kristopher) Megan Murphy (Matthew Brady) Benjamin Catoe (Courtney), and Brandon Murphy, and his aunts Terry Murphy, Cheryl Catoe (Steve). His girlfriend Jannett Swift.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Andrea Hatfield-Todd, his uncle Paul M.Hatfield, Jr., Grandfather Paul M. Hatfield and Grandmother Priscilla M. Hatfield, and Grandfather James O. Shirley and Grandmother Carol B. Shirley.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Matthew's name to the addiction and rehabilitation facility of your choice.

There will be a private family graveside service in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

To Our son Matthew,

We knew you faced many challenges in life, but we always tried to instill in you to be respectful, stay strong, be confident, & just do your best!

In retrospect, we now know your life was a tough journey in some regards, but we were also proud of you because you never gave up, and you were optimistic that you would indeed succeed! In many ways you reminded us that ..."Life isn't always about waiting for the storm to pass; it's about learning how to dance in the rain." All we ever wanted for you is to be a good person, to laugh, love life, follow your dreams and believe in yourself!!

WE LOVED YOU, UNCONDITIONALLY.... AND WILL FOREVER HOLD YOU IN OUR HEART!
