John Alford Obituary

John Philip "JP" Alford, 69, the beloved husband of Linda S. Alford, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Alford was born the son of the late Rev. John Henry Alford and Mary Adeline Howard Alford on July 21, 1952 in Hemingway. He was a 1970 graduate of Williamsburg High School and attended Emmanuel College. He worked for over 40 years in the Finance Industry before retiring to enjoy traveling and playing golf. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. He was the former President and Vice President of the Lions Club; was a member of Liberty Christian Fellowship; and attended the men's weekly prayer breakfast held at Antonio's. He was a devoted son; loving husband; cherished father and grandfather; caring brother, and a loyal friend.

He is survived by: his mother, Mary; his bride of 43 years, Linda; six children, Lisa Haas (Bryan Miller), Krissy Cooper (William), Johnny Alford (Iris), Maryanne Lambert (Jonathan), Clint Alford (Hilary) and Jason Alford; fourteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by: two brothers, Gerald Alford and Wendell Alford (Debbie); a sister-in-law, Kathy Alford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by: his father, Rev. John Henry Alford; and three brothers, Harry Alford; Larry Alford; and Mitchell Alford.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 4PM, Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the Family Worship Center, 17686 County Line Road, Andrews. Officiating will be Rev. Susie Dease.

The Alford family will greet family and friends immediately after the service in the church sanctuary.

McKenzie Funeral Home is honored to serve the Alford family.
