Jeffrey Cross Obituary

Jeffrey Cross, 69, beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Beaufort, SC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025, surrounded by loving family in Charleston, SC.
He was born on April 28, 1956 in Madison, Ohio, to the late Charles Thomas Cross and the late Imogene Cross.
Jeff is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberly Ann Cross, son James and his wife Kendall, and daughter Elizabeth and her husband Brett. As well as siblings Michael, Stephen and Anne, and his cherished grandchildren Michael, Larraine and Lucy.
Jeff was a retired attorney, notably a member of the Public Utilities, Communication and Transportation Law Section of the American Bar Association. He also spent several years on the board of the Beaufort Historical Museum. Jeff had a deep passion for American history-especially the Civil War-and loved sharing fascinating historical facts with anyone willing to listen.
Jeff and Kim were devoted to each other, and loved to travel and explore the world. They spent their years together on many adventures far and wide, from Hong Kong, to Hawaii, to Disney World, collecting stories and memories along the way.
Known for his sense of humor, Jeff made friends wherever he went. He had a unique affection for lawn gnomes (the collection stood at 23), watching golf but not playing golf, and was a loyal fan of the Cincinnati Bengals.
He took great joy in his grill, and loved inviting family and friends over to try his latest experiment from the smoker. Many have mentioned that visiting the Cross household for dinner was one of the best meals of their life.
He never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy if he could help it, and was often seen strolling through Beaufort with his faithful dachshund, Opie Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to the Beaufort County Animal Shelter, or the animal rescue of your choice.
A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.

Kim & Jeff were a special couple! Where ever they were, you were sure to experience a lot of laughter and good times.
Jeff always made sure to acknowledge your birthday with cards that made you smile. And when you were with Kim, you were sure to giggle.
They were up to helping one play practical jokes on our friends.
Tony & I will miss you Jeff. You are leaving us with many wonderful memories.
