Henry Terry Obituary

"I fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
Henry Terry, Jr., affectionately known as "Jack," peacefully passed away on February 6th, 2025, in Parksley Virginia, while residing at Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center. Formally from Belle Orchard Lane in Suffolk Virginia, Jack was born on June 11th, 1941, to the late Henry Terry, Sr. and Olivia Holloman Terry in Portsmouth, Virginia.
After attending Portsmouth Public Schools, Jack moved to New York and then planted roots in Teaneck, New Jersey. He was employed by the Dwight-Englewood School System as a career custodian until his retirement. Upon a successful career and well-deserved retirement, Jack moved back to Virginia.
He joined New Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia and served his church and community as a deacon under the late Reverend Milton Blount until he was unable to serve due to health issues.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Essie Mae Stevenson and Barbara A. Jones; and two aunts, Irene Bynum and Ella M. Rogers.
Those left behind to cherish Jack's memory include his two children, Wendy (Adam) Fisher of Hallwood, VA and Alvin (Nicole) Drummond of Jacksonville, NC; three grandchildren, Marquise Drummond, Tyherra (Tyquan) Abbott, and Alize' Drummond; six great-grandchildren, Janessa, Neveah, Sanyia, Kamari, Khalil, and Meilani; along with an extensive church family, friends, nieces, and nephews.
