Dorothy Merritt Obituary

Dorothy Duncan Morris Merritt, 90, widow of Marvin Henry Morris and Carl Andrew Merritt, died Monday, June 4, 2018, at her residence.

Mrs. Merritt was born in Andrews on June 8, 1927, a daughter of the late Rev. Henry Hope Duncan, Sr. and Irene Elliott Duncan. She grew up in Andrews and graduated from Andrews High School. Mrs. Merritt was a retired employee of Oneita Knitting Mills and was a former Mary K. Consultant. She was a member of Andrews Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Mrs. Merritt was an accomplished seamstress, loved singing, playing the piano, and working with her flowers. She was also an excellent cook and was famous for her biscuits. Mrs. Merritt was a loving and giving friend and a true and faithful servant of the Lord.

In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Merritt was predeceased by: two step-sons; four brothers, and two sisters.

Surviving are: two daughters, Jewel Cool, Brenda Cooper, Dale Morris (Marilyn), and Michael Morris (Patsy), all of Andrews; a sister, Loraine Floyd of Surfside Beach; two brothers, Rev. M. Donald Duncan (Virginia) of Lake City and Burnett R. Duncan (Bertha) of Archdale, NC.; two step-daughters, Rebecca Cox of Columbia and Kathy Goodwin (Paul) of Georgetown; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren;; ten great-great grandchildren; and nineteen step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be five o'clock Friday, June 8, 2018, at Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Donald Duncan, Rev. Paul Miles, and Rev. Dean Baber. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
