Betty Schroeder Obituary

Georgetown
It is with profound sadness that the family of Betty Louise Schroeder announces her peaceful passing and taking her heavenly flight at the age of 84, after a courageous fight of a short-term illness. Betty passed away at her home in Georgetown, SC in the early morning hours on Thursday, May 15th surrounded by her loving family.
On Sunday, May 10th, Mother's Day, two days prior to her death, Betty saw a huge party of heavenly hosts that she was attending, The joy that filled the room was a joy that passes all human understanding. The childlike expression on her face and the happiness no one had ever seen on her explains that she was seeing through the veil between heaven and earth. She said to family members "can you believe this?!" Then she exclaimed "this is nothing to the party that's coming!" One day prior to her passing she spoke the words " I see Jesus!" which filled the room with an unearthly, and unexplainable excitement! Shortly after she spoke these words, she quietly said "I'm gone, I love you and blew two joyful smooches to her devoted daughter, Karen, as she held her hand drifting off to sleep and peacefully passing the next morning.
Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Betty, "lovingly known as "granny", was known for her witty personality and beautiful smile. Betty lived a simple and quiet life and loved being at peace. She also loved watching her BIG TV and her favorite shows were Judge Judy, Matlock, Law & Order, Gunsmoke, and Uncle Buck, not to forget FOX News as well, just to name a few. Betty knew every TV star and would pass on to her family all the good movies so they could enjoy watching them, too. She was a devoted OSU Football fan. Go Bucks! Betty most of all loved her family and grand dogs. She enjoyed every family get together riding over in her shinny red VW Beetle playing the Bee Gees loud on her radio with the wind blowing in her hair. Betty enjoyed the simple things in life like sitting on her porch rocking in her chair watching the birds and squirrels as they frolic and look for food. She always commented about the lovely sound of the "rain birds" (as her mother called them) also known as doves. She truly loved this beautiful life we are all blessed to have. Betty's last written words to her family are "I'll be watching over you all. I love you!"
Betty's first job was with JC Penny in Columbus, Ohio as a young teenager. As the years passed she became very skilled in office management and had an exceptional career in all of her job opportunities.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Kim Leasure of Ohio, and Karen Bratcher (Rusty) of Georgetown, SC; grandchildren, Amy Leasure of Ohio, Russ Bratcher of Jacksonville, FL, and Olivia Atkinson (Michael) of Georgetown, SC; great-granddaughter, Naomi Rose Atkinson; granddog, Brinkley Bratcher; sister, Sue "Sissy" Darling of Logan, Ohio; and her brother, John (Kristi) Caldwell of Lockbourne, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Essie Caldwell and father, Kenneth Caldwell; sister, Patty Vojtech; brothers, Kenny Caldwell and Rudy Caldwell; and her great-granddaughter, Lily Leslie Atkinson.
The family would like to give Jessica Harwell with Amedisys Home Heath a huge thank you for the love and care she gave to Betty over the past few years. Also a special thank you to Laura and Lisa with Gentiva Hospice for the compassionate and loving care they showed Betty, even if it was for one week. They are outstanding in their commitment to share love and compassion.
The family will receive visitors at the Downtown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home, 222 St. James St., from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, with a service immediately following at 11:00. Burial will be held in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
