Belinda Dickerson Obituary
Belinda Gail Dickerson of Port Royal, S.C. entered God's Kingdom on Tuesday December 23, 2025. Born in Cherry Point NC on February 19, 1954, she was the beloved first-born daughter of Captain Charles Robert Dickerson and Emma Sue Dickerson.
After graduating from Beaufort High School in 1972, Belinda earned her bachelor's degree from the Baptist College of Charleston and master's degree from the University of South Carolina. She was a dedicated educator in the Jasper County School District for thirty years spending most of her time in the English Department at Jasper County High School. Belinda loved her students dearly, was deeply committed to their success, tried to inspire them to pursue their dreams, was exceedingly proud of their accomplishments, and cherished the life-long relationships they developed.
Beyond the classroom, Belinda was an accomplished church pianist and organist and active member of her church family until her health declined. She loved get-togethers with friends, sharing a new recipe, reading an enjoyable book, watching an interesting show, having a long telephone chat, taking a trip, giving someone a hand up and buying "just all the kids" gifts. She played an active role in the lives of her nieces and nephews, insuring their joy and safety playing in the family pool, listening to their dreams, soothing their fears, supporting their participation in church and community activities, cheering on and assisting with their educational endeavors, transporting them here, there and everywhere and caring for them like they were her own children. Belinda will be remembered for her perseverance, generosity, compassion, and sharp wit. Known for holding strongly to her beliefs and convictions, and a gift of focusing on the light in others, she lived a life of meaningful acts of love and kindness.
Belinda looked forward to joining her parents, Charles and Sue Dickerson, her infant brother, Matt Howard, family members, friends and pet companions in Heaven. She is survived by her sisters, Terry Compton (Joe), Mary Dickerson, and Lisa Sutton (Mark), her cherished nieces and nephews, Allison Compton-Still (Jim), Christy Estrada (Jessie), Sara O'Connor (Liam), Charles Compton and Dylan Sutton, her treasured grandnieces and grandnephews Ansleigh Carver, Addisyn Still, Adler Still, Jacob Estrada, Rowyn Cannon, Juniper O'Connor and Sebastian O'Connor, long-time comrade Quentin Williams and her ever faithful dog Roger.
A Memorial Service to honor Belinda will be on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Port Royal Baptist Church. A reception/repast will follow the service in the Port Royal Baptist Church Family Life Center. The family hopes loved ones, friends, former students and colleagues will join us at Belinda's memorial service to share fond memories and celebrate her life.
