Barbara Price Obituary

Barbara "Babs" Philips Price passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her passing came exactly 11 years after the death of her beloved husband of 51 years, Charles Warren Price - a timing that felt like a quiet, poetic reunion. Babs was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband Warren; her parents, Evan Rhodes "Nippy" Philips and Gay Ragland Philips; her sister, Mary Alice Philips; and her grandson, Evan Warren Price. She leaves behind a loving family who will miss her deeply: her children Robin Price, Lantz Price, and Brett Price (with wife Stacey); her grandchildren Taelor Rubin, Sydney Johnson (with husband Tyler), Tanner Price (with wife Emily), Haley Price, Hayden Price, and Grayson Price; and her great-grandchildren Caspian and Opal Price. Babs was also cherished by her nieces and nephews - Stacey Braithwaite, Trey Braithwaite, and Brittany Smith - along with a wide circle of devoted friends, neighbors, and her treasured P.E.O. sisters and garden club community. Babs had a gift for nurturing - whether it was the people in her life or the flowers in her garden. A proud Master Gardener, she found joy in growing things and keeping her yard in bloom. Years ago, she brought that same creative spirit to her business, Breakfast Hill Baskets, where she crafted thoughtful handmade gifts that reflected her energy and care. She also treasured her time at Moose Pond, where she found a special kind of calm. She loved kayaking, reading (often more than one book at a time), working through a crossword, or knitting something for the people she loved. Babs was incredibly smart, quick-witted, and skilled - the kind of person who stayed curious and capable throughout her life. Fierce, funny, and endlessly loyal, Babs never lost her spark. Even in the toughest moments, she held on to her sense of humor, her sass, and her love for others. She cared deeply about those around her and showed it in genuine, lasting ways. She gave with her whole heart and lived with passion and resilience. Her presence made the world a little brighter - and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her. In keeping with Babs' wishes, there will not be a formal service. Her family will gather privately to celebrate her life. I am just learning of Babs passing and it was the saddest news to read. She was by far one of the wittiest and creative person I knew.
I loved it when she and Warren could join us for oyster roasts. I know she will be missed and I wish her family comfort and condolences in losing this gem.

My condolences to Robin, Lantz, Brett, Stacey and the rest of the family. I have fond memories of visiting her twice at the cabin at Moose Pond. Once when she and Warren were there, and once with Robin. Babs was a unique and spunky spirit.
