Audrey Lucas Obituary
Audrey graduated from Burke High School in Charleston, SC in 1950. She attended Allen University in Columbia, SC and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in1953. She earned her Master's Degree in Education from the Citadel in August of 1988.
Audrey Lucas married the late Eugene Lucas Jr. and became a military spouse living and teaching in numerous places in the United States and abroad. She culminated her successful career teaching in several elementary schools in Charleston County. Audrey received numerous accolades including several Outstanding Teacher of the Year Awards and was recognized on more than one occasion in the Charleston Post and Courier for her innovativeness in motivating and teaching students.
Ms. Audrey kept a sense of humor about life coupled with a fearlessness in making a difference and encouraging others. She shared one of her favorite hobbies, collecting clowns with her students to help them appreciate looking at the positive side of things even when circumstances were challenging. She enjoyed gardening, home decorating, flowers, reading, and of course big dogs with names like King, AWOL and Titan.
Audrey Jean Lucas is survived by her 2 sons, Carroll Lucas and Curtis Lucas; Grandson, Kendrick Eugene Lucas; Granddaughter Chontell Crystal Lucas and her siblings Reather Brown and Calvin Randolph along with a host of many nieces, nephews, close cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Carolina Memorial Funeral Homes, 7113 Rivers Ave. North Charleston, starting at Noon, Friday, July 8, 2022. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday July 7th and from 11:30 to Noon on Friday July 8th. Burial will follow the service at Carolina Memorial Gardens.

To The Family of the late Mrs. Audrey J. Lucas, c/o Mr. Carroll Lucas and Mr. Curtis Lucas, I extend my sincere condolences upon hearing of the transition of Mrs. Lucas who is now resting in the arms of our heavenly Father from whom all blessings flow. "When praises/prayers go up, blessings come down."
She will be sorely missed.

The world has lost a Saint when God handed you your wings. We are at peace knowing that you lead an honorable and faithful life that brought smiles to everyone. You were a voice of hope, encouragement, and love. You changed our life and inspired us to seek our dreams. We will miss you but your legacy also lives in us and we will always cherish memories of you and our time together.
