I was sad to learn of the passing of my good high school friend Billy Hughes. He and I were schoolmates at Porter-Gaud, and I have terrific memories of time spent with Billy, from oyster roasts on the Wando to our 8th-row seats for Bruce Springsteen. It's clear from the reminiscences of others here that Billy lived a rich life, with friends and family who love and cherish him. My sympathies and best wishes to his children and family.

To the whole family, Bill was a dear friend of mine when we were teenagers. We had many great times, as he was a great guy! He will be saddly missed by all whose life he touched. My prayers go out to his wife, children, parents, brothers and their families. Mary Ann Moraska

Although I hadn't seen Billy in many years, I will never forget him. He, even as a teenager, was kind, considerate, and always very generous of spirit and humor. He obviously grew into a great man, husband and father. I, like everyone who knew him, am terribly saddened by his loss, and I hope that his wife, children and family know that they are in our thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.

**** To his family and friends ****
I had a unique and special friendship with Billy, for nearly 20 years I can't remember a cross word between us. We worked together many days during this time and he was always ready to help and do what ever he could for me and many others. I don't have the words to express how sad I am, I miss him and loved him like a brother, and, I will never forget him. I am available to help in any way I can for Holli and the children, just email me and I will respond. May God bless you all and help each of you to be strong. With a heavy heart, I bid farewell to my friend..... Sincerely,.. Bobby Parker

I am shocked to hear such sad and heart breaking news. My heart and well wishes go to Billy's wife and children. We have never met but I knew your husband and father when we were young boys at Porter Gaud. Billy never had a mean word to say about anyone and was a friend to all. He was quick to smile and I enjoyed the time with him. I wish you much strength in this time. He will be missed by many. Mark A. Lipton, OD Porter Gaud Class of 1980.
