Mike, Jimmy, Kathy,
I so wish I could have been there with you all to celebrate Pop's life. I remember a few years ago when passing thru Columbia, I stopped at Rushs for lunch. My son was with me. We went in and saw WC sitting there totally engaged in conversation with a teenage boy sitting behind him. I told my boy "I want you to meet a great man," and we went over and sat with him for a while. It was like Pops and Andrew had known each other forever. Pops never met a stranger. What a blessing he was to everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.

Dear Kathy and family,

I moved to South Carolina and began working in D5 schools when your father was superintendent. His strong leadership paved the way for the success that we have experienced. He continued to show interest in the district as I would see him in the community. Even last school year when a co-worker of mine saw him at Generations he was very interested in the construction at Irmo High School. I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.
