William Fletcher Obituary

FLETCHER, William William A. Fletcher, 89, of Moncks Corner, a retired chief dispatcher with Santee Cooper, died Saturday at a North Charleston nursing home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Moncks Corner. Burial, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, will be in Berkeley Memorial Gardens. Mr. Fletcher was born April 1, 1917 in Kershaw, SC, a son of Timothy Fletcher and Mable Hough Fletcher. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Moncks Corner where he served as chairman of the deacons for 40 years, a Sunday School teacher, and he received many awards. Surviving are his wife-Eleanor Horton Fletcher of Moncks Corner; two sons-William A. "Billy" Fletcher, Jr. and Timothy R. Fletcher both of Moncks Corner; daughter-Ann F. Dyar of Orangeburg; sister-Lucille Dankanitch of Ferris Hills, PA; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. Friends may call at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday evening. Mr. Fletcher was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. I was so very sorry to read about Mr. Fletcher. I did not read the notice until Tuesday night, otherwise I would have been at the visitation. Please know all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. Mrs. Fletcher, I think about you more often than you know.

Mrs. Fletcher, Ann & boys: Wish I could be there in person, but wanted you to know what fond memories I have of your family. Even though you will miss him, he is in a better place. Rejoice in that and remember what he meant to all of you. To me, he was a quiet wonderful man that was always there for us girls.
