Wayne Coates Obituary

Wayne fought a long hard battle. May God Bless all of his family.
Wayne was a true gentleman. He was my boss at Wachovia/Wells Fargo for several years. He gave me a wonderful gift of telling me to hold off on retirement. I took his advice and received my severance package. I will never forget his thoughtfulness, kindness and laughter. Wayne was one of the few special men that I have ever known. He spoke so often of his family and how proud he was of everyone.

Wayne was known by his fraternity brothers to be a true Virginia Gentleman. He always had a kind word and a gentle ribbing to show his affection. His smile warned up the room, and he could defuse any controversy. I'll always remember him leading the Love Train through the House with the O'Jays blaring or organizing a stair dive whenever the band quit to keep the party going. He made the world a better and usually a more fun place. With deepest sympathy to Bunny and the boys, Leonard J & Milly

Wayne is my very precious forever friend. A small group of us walked to school together everyday, until Wayne was the first to get a car, then we rode in style. I have so many wonderful memories...

I had the privilege of knowing Wayne from cutting his hair in my shop in the Wells Fargo building in Winston- Salem for several years.
Wayne was one of the nicest guys that I have ever met.

I'm sorry to hear of Wayne's passing. He and I started together in the National Bank & Trust Company Management Training program in 1974. He was a real gentleman. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
