Thomas Smith
Kingstree - Thomas Brown "Tommy" Smith, 86, passed away peacefully Monday, February 9, 2026, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC.
Tommy was born November 17, 1939, in Kingstree, SC, a son of the late Gamble Smith and Pauline Brown Smith. He graduated from Kingstree High School and a Columbia business school. Tommy retired from Tidewater Transportation in Charleston and worked part time at Avis Car Rental. He loved Clemson football and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Tommy was a family-oriented man who especially enjoyed any family gathering.
Surviving Tommy are: a son, Tim (Leslie) Smith of Florence; a daughter, Stacy (Derrick) Oliver of Andrews; two grandchildren, Madeline (Josh) Cooper and Olivia (Jacob) DuBose, both of Florence; three great grandchildren, Thomas Cooper, Tillman Cooper, and Adeline Cooper; special niece, Sherry Kellahan; and sister-in-law, Vonnie Smith. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his brother Merrill Smith and a niece, Brenda Fore. Tommy's family would like to thank the staff at The Florence Presbyterian Community for their love and compassionate care.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Bloomingvale Baptist Church Cemetery, 7652 Thurgood Marshall Highway, Andrews, SC 29510. Tommy's family will receive family and friends from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday afternoon at Williamsburg Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Bloomingvale Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 7645 Thurgood Marshall Highway, Andrews, SC 29510.
