Susan Atwood Obituary

Susan Atwood CHARLESTON - Susan E. Atwood, of Charleston, SC, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025. Her final moments were spent surrounded by family. She was 76 years old. Sue will be remembered mostly for her unwavering love and support for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. After retiring from the Human Resources Department of the College of Charleston, she combined her love of nature and photography, capturing countless shots of her favorite Lowcountry birds. A gracious hostess, and an avid traveler, she was fun-loving and creative. No one was a stranger to Sue, as she was quick to strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. Her positivity and sense of humor were contagious. Sue was born in Cambridge, MA on December 9, 1948. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Mildred Kelleher and her brother, John (Jack) Kelleher. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dennis, her sons and daughters-in-law, Scott (Suzanne), Brian (Julie), and Marc (Taylor), and her nieces and nephews and their families. Nana's beloved grandchildren are Ben, Maria, and Carter. A Celebration of Life will take place Monday, July 28 at Noon at Charles Towne Landing (Founders Hall). Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers.
