Steven Plowden Obituary

Steven Plowden Hilton Head Island, SC - Steven DeLorme Plowden of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, entered into the presence of our Lord Wednesday, May 12, 2021. He was born in Montgomery, Alabama, July 19, 1963, the son of Moultrie Plowden and Doris Hannah Plowden Wolfe. Steve moved to the Island in 1977 with his sister and parents when his father was called to run the nascent Hilton Head Hospital. He graduated from McCracken High School and attended Georgia Southern University and the University of Alabama where he was a proud Beta Theta Pi. He has been well known as a realtor with Dunes Real Estate for 26 years. He was also a member of St. Andrew by the Sea United Methodist Church. Steve married the love of his life, the former Lisa Brownfield of Hilton Head In 1994. He was devoted to their children, Jesse DeLorme and Cassidy Hannah. He was a great advocate for Jesse's special needs and the greatest cheerleader for Cassidy's sports and academic pursuits. Steve will be remembered as a dedicated family man, a fun loving friend, and to an army of clients as a knowledgeable and trustworthy realtor. He was a promoter of the Week of Champions charity golf event for a number of years. He is survived by his wife, parents and children; sister, Kathryn Hannah Plowden Smyth (Randy); step-mother, Mary Catherine Baker Plowden; mother-in-law, Carol Keller (Alan); sister-in-law, Sally Brownfield; aunts, Becky Wood Plowden and Opal Hannah Miller; nephew, Rann Smyth; and step-brother, Bill Harper. Steve is preceded in death by his father-in-law, John Charles Brownfield; sister-in-law, Lori Brownfield; and step-father, Ernie Wolfe. Steve leaves behind friends from places he lived and loved from Luverne, Montgomery, Vestavia Hills in Alabama to Charleston and Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. A memorial service will be held at St. Lukes Church on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at 11:00 am with a Celebration of Life to follow at Point Comfort Pavilion.
