I'm Libby Compton's mom, and like her, remember Stevie as the happiest child I ever saw. He made everyone who met him smile and laugh out loud. We all watched him instead of the softball and soccer games. I am so sorry for your family and you will all be in my thoughts.

Dear Karen and Mr. and Mrs. Mao,
Your family is very much in my thoughts and prayers right now. I will always remember Stevie as an adorable little toddler attending every sports game we ever played. He was always the center of attention with his sweet smile. I wish you peace and healing.
Love,
Libby

Steven~
I will miss you so much.
Camp would not have been fun without you.
I will never forget all the great times we had at TIP. All the jokes, breakfasts, dances, evening activities, and dinners.
You were a great guy.
I hope you know that you will always be loved. You were such a great friend.
You were undoubtedly one of the sweetest, smartest, most understanding people I have ever met.
I will never forget you.

Dear Mao family (Karen especially),

I am very sorry for you loss. I cannot conceive what it would be like to lose a child, but I know that I would be devastated if my little brother Edward died. Karen, we went to Buist together, and I'm thinking about you and your whole family.

God bless,

I feel your pain. Since I have a son (KIP) I know what I would feel if I lost him. No family should have to go though that.

My heart truly goes out to you at this time. Even ones he didn't know and that has to say everything about the person he was. His memory will LIVE ON FOREVER. May God BLESS ALL OF YOU AT THIS TIME !!!!!!

Dear Mao Family:
I was so sad to hear of your loss. My son, Daniel Martin,III transferred from Buist in the 7th grade. But, we all remember Steven. He was a kind and gentle person.

To The Family of Steve,
I Just Wanted Leave My Condolences And Say That I Am Very Sorry For The Lost of A Wonderful Young Man. He Was Very Special Person That Always Kept Me Smiling. He Was A Nice Young Man. I Am Disappointed That He Had To Leave So Soon. I Know That His Spirit Is In The Right Place And I Pray That We Will See Each Other Again Someday. Everything Happends For A Reason And I Am Pretty Sure There Is A Good Reason For This.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Mao
My condolences to you and your family. Steven was one of my closest friends. And I wil truly miss him. God Bless You

October 12, 2006

To Steven's Family,

You don't know me, but my 6th grade daughter attends Buist, so I often saw your wonderful son there.

I was always so impressed by his kindness. I would watch him play with the ABC League, and note how gentle he was with the younger children.

I don't need to tell you that he was also a brilliant young man -- I remember becoming aware of that at the "End of the Year Awards" this past June. I also recognized his humility.

I know your hearts are shattered, right now. Just from this distance, I find myself weeping -- both for the world's loss, with Steven's death; and for the unfathomable grief and shock you are experiencing right now.

Please know that many, many hearts reach out to you, in pain and in prayer -- mine included. You are not alone. We all care so very deeply.

In his 14 years, Steven accomplished a great deal. He has left the world a better place, because he was here.

With love,

Kathy Donovan

Father God, Thank You for always being there no matter what we face.We know You will never fail us, even in our most intense trials. we have not always understood why we were going through certain things; however, we do not have to understand, because You are God and You are in control, in spite of our lack of understanding.we know that all You require of us is to trust You, and look to You in faith and You will come and save, and bring us an answer. You always have, and You always will, because you are faithful. You never fail any of us who look to You. we have failed You, Lord, by our doubts and unbelief at times, but You have never failed us. Lord, please remove all the sorrow and grief we feel. Heal this pain we feel in our hearts and help us to trust You more. Fill this empty place in our hearts with more of Your Spirit. I ask this in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen
