Stephanie Huguenin Obituary

Stephanie Huguenin AUGUSTA, GA - Ms. Stephanie Alnell Huguenin entered into rest on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at her residence. Stephanie suffered an extended illness acquired during her missionary work in India. The family invites friends to West Acres Baptist Church on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 2:00 PM until 4:00. The funeral service will begin at 4:00, with the Rev. Larry Harmon and Rev. Malone Morris officiating. Burial will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 in the family cemetery at Roseland Plantation in Coosawhatchie, South Carolina. She is survived by her parents, David L. and Deborah Postell Huguenin "Momma D", her brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Stacey Huguenin, and her nephews, Camden Calhoun Gantt, Thayer Reed Huguenin and Reynolds Abram Huguenin, all of Evans, GA. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alvin and Dot Postell, Frances Rice Huguenin and Edward P. Huguenin, Jr. Stephanie, an Augusta native, was born on August 17, 1977. She graduated from Lakeside High School, where she was voted Miss Lakeside and Homecoming Queen. She was also active on the soccer team. She went on to attend the College of Charleston, where she graduated in 1999 with honors. While in Charleston, she was employed at Jenkins Orphanage. She enjoyed the children there and spent many nights with them. The week after her college graduation, she flew to India and volunteered to work in Mother Teresa's orphanage for an extended period. She had a big heart and always had time for the less fortunate. During her life, she traveled the world and settled in Manhattan, New York and worked there for 17 years. While there, she attended NYU and graduated with a Master of Arts degree. Upon her grandparents passing, she realized that life was short and moved back home to Augusta. She was employed at the Medical College of Georgia in the science and physics department. She loved working with the students. Stephanie was a life-long member of West Acres Baptist Church. She was a devoted member of the Nature Conservancy, Low Country Land Trust, Coastal Conservation League, Long Leaf Alliance and Women in Defense. She loved reading, the outdoors and spending time in her yard and on the family farm in South Carolina. During her life after traveling to India, she had been treated at Albert Einstein Hospital, the Mayo Clinic and Emory. She is now at peace and comforted by Jesus. Please leave condolences in the Platt's online guestbook. Platts Funeral Home 337 North Belair Road, Evans, GA.

I am so sorry for your loss, and I pray GOD will hold your family in his healing hands as needed during your sadness. I know what you are going through Pat and I lost our Amber when she was 32. All of her family and friends will remain in our prayers for the time being, however, we can't make the service since I just received a pacemaker yesterday.

Debbie, I extend my sincere condolences to you and your family. Stephanie sounds like she was a lovely, and very accomplished young woman, with her heart in the right place.
I knew her grandparents, Dot and Alvin Postell, through my late former-in-laws, Weldon and Naomi Reece. I was married to their oldest son, Jimmy Roger, for 25 years. I may have met you sometime during those years, but I do want you to know I adored your parents, Dot and Alvin!
I know Stephanie must be near Mother Teresa, and all the great missionaries who preceded her to Heaven!

Debbie and David, I am deeply saddened by Stephanies passing. Stephanie was just as beautiful and kind as her wonderful Mother. I have been gone from the area for so long, but I can still remember the good times we had in our younger days.
I have been in Bowling Green, Ky since 2012. I am remarried to a retired Oral Surgeon. I pray that you can remember all the wonderful memories you shared, and know one day you will be united in Heaven.

She sounds like she was a beautiful person inside and out. May she rest in peace. Think of her on those days that she would be outside in her yard, the side of children playing, and helping others. With sympathy and condolences to you and your family.
