Sarah Grant Obituary

GRANT, Sarah Mrs. Sarah Yeadon Johnson Grant, 65, of Cross, S.C., passed away at he residence, Tuesday, August 8, 2006, after an extended illness. The funeral will be held at noon on Saturday, August 12, 2006, at Jerusalem United Methodist Church in Cross, South Carolina. The Reverend Wendell W. Sumter, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church's cemetery in Cross, S.C. Mrs. Grant grew up in Cross and completed school at Central High School. She continued her education at South Carolina State College. Later, she moved to New York where she was employed at New York State Nursing Home. As a youth, she attended Jerusalem UM Church. Upon moving to New York, she joined Emmanuel AME Church where she served as a member of the Usher Board. Mrs. Grant was twice married. Her first marriage was to Joe Louis Johnson, Sr. Mr. Johnson, two sons: Louis Johnson, Jr. and Garry Donell Johnson, one great-granddaughter, JaMayia Shepherd and a brother, Robert Yeadon, all preceded her in death. Her survivors include her husband, Clarence F. Grant, of Bishopville, SC; two children, Larry (Joyce) Yeadon, and Victoria Yvette "Phatt" (Paul) Shepherd, all of Cross, S.C.; five sisters, Mrs. Laura Brown, Ms. Jestine Yeadon, Mrs. Ruthie (Robert) Singleton, Ms. Clara Yeadon, and Mrs. Yvonne Wilson, all of Cross, SC. Five step-children; five grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2006, at SHULER-MARSHALL FUNERAL HOME, 1235 Unity Road, Holly Hill, SC.
