Samuel Donaldson Obituary

DONALDSON, III, S. Entered into eternal life on December 7, 2004, Samuel Sammy Townley Donaldson III of Mount Pleasant, SC. The relatives and friends of Samuel Townley Donaldson III are invited to attend his Memorial Service, Saturday, December 11, 2004 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at eleven o'clock. Friends may call at Stuhr's Mount Pleasant Chapel Friday evening from six until eight o'clock. Sammy was born in Satellite Beach, Florida on September 4, 1968, son of Samuel T. Donaldson, Jr. and Joyce Hilliker Donaldson. He attended Wando High School and Hibben United Methodist Church, where he also taught Sunday school. He worked for Sunset Country Club in Sumter, SC, and was the Alzheimer's Unit Activities Director for several nursing homes in the Mount Pleasant area. Sammy was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a Cubmaster of Pack 40 in Mount Pleasant, and had served as the Boy Scouts of America Etiwan District Outdoor Activities Chairman. He was awarded the Boy Scouts of America District Award of Merit by the Coastal Carolina Council. In 2001, Sammy was honored as a Hero for Gov. Hodges Year of the Child Award. He also participated in the Alzheimer's Association Annual Memory Walk. Surviving are his parents, Samuel T. Donaldson, Jr. and Joyce H. Donaldson; one sister, Deborah L. Doll; two nephews, Brian J. Holbrook and Christopher S. Holbrook; one niece, Sarah J. Doll; his former wife, Candi Dopson, and two step-sons, Evan and Corey Dopson, all of Mount Pleasant, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Any Length Recovery Community, 1154 Ronda St., Sumter, SC 29154.
