Sally Evitt Obituary

Sally Proctor Evitt CHARLESTON - Sally Proctor Evitt, 78 of Charleston, widow of Troy E. Evitt, Jr, passed away December 20, 2020, peacefully after a 2 1/2 year battle with Stomach Cancer at her home. A drive-through visitation will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 3:30 pm until 5:30 pm at Ashley River Baptist Church, near the ballfield. Sally was born on July 11, 1942 in Charleston SC, daughter to Martin Luther Proctor and Audrey Lee Jansen. She graduated from St. Andrews Parish High School and graduated from Spartanburg Junior College in Early Childhood Development. She went on to teach preschool at Ashley River Baptist Childcare Center for many years and then went to St. Andrews Presbyterian Weekday School where, she retired. She always had children at her house, whether visiting or watching them for parents who worked or had other obligations. She was a charter member of Ashley River Baptist Church since birth. Her love of the church and all children is how her love thrived. She taught Children's Sunday School, every Sunday and taught Children's Choir, every Wednesday until the cancer decided to halt that. She shared her Love of Jesus, her Lord and Savior to every single child and adult she came across. To know Sally, was to love her. She loved with a vengeance that not many people can say they had. She never met a stranger and she would never forget you. She loved Jesus with her whole being and you knew it. She has touched countless lives in West Ashley and especially within the Ashley River Baptist Church Family. She is survived by her daughter, Audrey Isabelle Kirkland (Kirk), a son, Langdon Hugh Hiott, III; and a step-son, Troy E. Evitt, III, grandchildren, Timothy Hiott (Heather), Caitlyn Fredrick (Kevin), Ashley Hiott-Mullin (Brandon), Emily Kirkland (Zack) and Lilli Kirkland, great-grandchildren, Dorothie, Denise, Juliette, Jackson, Ryder and Thomas. She will be greatly missed by her special friend, Mr. James Behling. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to RSFH Foundation c/o Cancer or Cancercare, 125 Doughty Street, Ste. 790, Charleston, SC 29403 https://www.rsfhfoundation.org. Also, donations can be made to Ashley River Baptist Church General Fund. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston

Audrey I am so sorry to hear about your mom. She was the sweetest woman I know. She never forgot my name and always said hi when you ran into her at the store. Her kindness is a reflection of her love for God. That is how I will always remember her. Love your neighbor, she lived it with everyone she came in contact with. Love ya girl

I met sally about 36 years ago at her fathers visitation and we have been fast friends ever since. I don´t think she ever missed a birthday party or Easter egg hunt at my house . He walls of my home and my scrapbooks are loaded with her photos. We have so many memories together ( too many to share) but her love of Jesus is the one I hold closest. I miss you so much sally but know you are so happy dancing and singing with Jesus. I can only imagine!

Sally, ours is a friendship that began more than a half century ago. My thoughts and prayers go to your family. You've left a Christian legacy among all the children whose life you've touched. "One glad morning when this life is o'er...I'll fly away!" ...and we shall rejoice once more, together.

Mrs Sally was indeed a rare gem. My husband battled with Mrs Sally at CHOA. She was such a positive inspiration and her love for God was her testimony. Dave was surely there to greet her as she stepped through the pearly gates. Till we meet again Mrs Sally, I hope to love a faction of as much as you did. You are dearly missed and never forgotten. May God comfort your family and friends in these difficult times. It was a blessing to do life with you.

It was an Angel ( my Mother) that sent us Ms Sassy. She cared for our most precious grandson and taught him so so much from a very early age. Her songs taught him about how Jesus loved him and how to count and say ABC´s. I loved our morning conversations and spoiling her with Greek food and sweets. I know she is singing with Jesus and making all in heaven smile. Till we meet again our beloved friend.

Our many, many trips to Ridgecrest will always bring a smile to my face and thinking of the laughter she brought to all who crossed her path. I shall cherish those memories. Prayers to her family.

Sally meant so much to all of us. Her love for Jesus was so evident, and the way she loved others will remain an inspiration. She faced her battle with cancer with such grace. She used her illness as a means to tell others about her complete faith in Jesus. We loved Ms. Sally, and we are grateful for our memories with her.
