Ronald Ross Obituary

ROSS, JR., Ronald GREELEYVILLE - Ronald S. "Smitty" Ross, Jr., 59, died Thursday, December 7, 2006 in a Charleston hospital. Mr. Ross was born March 17, 1947 in Sumter; a son of the late Helen McKnight and Ronald S. Ross, Sr. He was a graduate of Greeleyville High School and Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, NC and was retired from the forestry industry after 35 years. Mr. Ross was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star with three Oak Leaf Clusters with V Device for heroism. He was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Vietnam Vets of America, ABBATE, the Sons of the Confederacy, SCVM, and the Mechanized Cavalry of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Lessesne Ross of Greeleyville; three daughters, Kellen (Daniel) Puzewski of Sumter, Annie Manning and her fiancé Dave Ernst of Mt. Pleasant, and Mary (Matthew) Wood of Clayton, NC; a brother, Michael C. Ross of Greeleyville, and two grandchildren, Peyton Puzewski, and Anna Margaret Puzewski. Graveside funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Greeleyville, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home of Kingstree. The family suggests memorials to Mt. Margaret,
The service Sunday was a wonderful tribute to Smitty. I had the pleaseure of working with him for many years. He will be missed by all who knew him. My prayers are with you and the girls, the family he loved so dearly.

i am very saddened to learn of "Smitty's" death. Today God has another Angel. he has touched many people with his humor and smile, and I am glad to say that he was my friend. I am glad that our paths crossed and that we got to share some time together. My life has been enriched because of him and all his family. Know that Giod;s plan included this wonderful man and today he is not suffering and is looking down on us all with a big smile One that will always be with me. He was a loving and generous person.Let us all remember him with our big smiles. My love and deepest Sympathy to Margaret and all the children.
