Robert "Woody" Raymond Woods
Ladson - Robert Raymond "Woody" Woods, 87, passed away on January 15, 2026, in Ladson, South Carolina. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Donna Woods. Born on February 28, 1938, in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of George R. and Anna V. Trout.
Woody proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Navy, achieving the rank of BT First Class. During his distinguished military career, he served aboard both the Destroyer and the USS John F. Kennedy (JFK). While stationed on the JFK, he was part of a mission that intercepted Russian missiles at sea-a moment of great historical significance. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Jessica Bunch (Todd), Chad Johnson (Shannon), Ross Johnson, Robert Woods III, and Daniel Smith (Dominique); as well as ten great-grandchildren. To all of them, he was lovingly known as "Pawee."
Woody's legacy lives on through his family and those who knew him throughout his life and service. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

So happy to have known "Woody". Although we were neighbors for a relatively short time, each conversation with him showed that he had heart of gold. He will be missed!

He will always be my favorite uncle. Spending time with him when I was a kid and listening to him talk was a joy by itself. He was just a great human overall and I'll never forget him.

Mr Woods was so much more then many people will ever know. Behind the tough exterior a lot of people saw. He had heart of gold to me.
