Just discovered that Bobby, my first cousin, had passed. I am so sorry as I lost my wife last year, but was not ready for the loss of other family members.

You were a favorite poker player: beer, peal & eat shrimp at the break then back to Black Mariah, hign-low split the pot, one-eyed Jacks are wild. Herman, Kenny, Bobby...all gone now. Mrs. Mappus, too. Wait! Is she steaming shrimp for you guys? Long time, no see but well remembered. Billy Burns

Bobby was such a good man. He was one of my favorite people and I hope he knew that. I loved his calmness , his dry sense of humor, his generosity, his obvious happiness when he saw his friends, but most of all I loved his courtly manners. He was a true southern gentleman and I will miss him terribly. My heartfelt sympathy to his family.

Bobby became one of my treasured friends when I came to Charleston High. The memories become sweeter through the years. So many laughs and fun times, am truly blessed to be counted among his many friends. I will never forget you and will be in prayer for your family. Love, Sharon Holcombe Rogers

The glory days of yesteryear and Bobby are inseparable in in my memory – Japanese plum raiding, sleep-over pillow fights, baseball on the horse lot, roller skating at Moultrie playground, tennis on the Smythe's clay court, dances at Hibernian Hall, playing Clue in Bobby's living room, football in Bachman's Smith's side yard, Mrs. Robinson dance classes at the South Carolina Hall, cops and robbers over blocks of the city, drinking Pepsis and reading comics at Poulnot's pharmacy, treks up King street for scary movies at the Garden theater, night tag at the Municipal Pool, playing Rook at East Bay playground – truly a blessing to have known him and have had him enrich my life. Bobby is my eternal friend.
