Abe was also referred to as "Coach" by some of us from the old neighborhood back in the day. Abe was never seen without a fresh haircut, as he was proud to display his wavy hair for all to see. And he always had on a clean pair of the athletic shoes. When Outkast made the song, "So Fresh and So Clean", they were more than likely talking about him. Abe gave us plenty of good times to reflect on, laugh about and cherish. As many have said before, Abe will be missed, but not forgotten.

My condolences to Mr,Mrs Smalls and family may God give you all peace and comfort during these times. Abe was a good person and always would share his laughters and smiles with me . Everytime when I went home he would yell whats up Bonita on no( Pee-Wee) he would just make me laugh . We would laugh about silly things but he was always my friend ! Love you Abe you will always be missed and we will always be neighboors of off King Street and Cypress.

Abe, the end has come all too soon. We laughed and talked with you last Thursday and, as usual, you and Pike had a spirited sports debate. He will miss the verbal sparring regarding the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys as well as the heated discussions about North Carolina and Duke.

We will always remember your joy as a six-year old playing baseball at Harmon Field. You were just as much a character then as you have been of late. Although we will never again share a joke, get another great hug, never get to roll our eyes at you about driving, we have a bundle of wonderful memories of you to buoy our spirits and ignite our energies to move onward.

Abe was like a brother to the family. We know how hard grief can be, so we continue to hold on to the precious memories of our dear one to help us cope. From one family to another, hold on to GOD, he will supply all the strength you need.

To the Entire Smalls Family: My heart is heavy with the loss of Abe. He was truly a special human being. Abe's character was one of a kind. He would always asked me (in a tone only Abe can perfect) after each conversation "Do ya need anything Nina"? Not the kind of fair-weather friends that most people have. He had ways to make me laugh, smile, and yes,even a little angry when his stubborness would prevail. Abe was the only person I had permission to go anywhere with due to my Grandma's strictness. That is a true compliment to his parents rearing. He was very proctective of me which was his way of saying "I care". It was a pleasure to know Abe but it is my privilage to say I was his special friend.

To the the bereaved family...Abe was our classmate and a good friend. To you we say, "hold tight to memories for comfort, lean on family and friends for strength, and always remember how much you are cared about". Your family are in our prayers.

It seems all of my life there was Abe. To hear Mrs. Benita call his name when she was angry, she wore out that last syllable. From the days of Run DMC, Because of him I think I knew every word.
