Robert Pilla Obituary

Robert A. Pilla MT. PLEASANT - Robert A. Pilla, 80, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2015, surrounded by his family at home in Mount Pleasant, SC. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to John Pilla and Florence Kollenbaum. He will be remembered as a kind, selfless and devoted father, voracious reader, animal lover, music enthusiast and avid sports fan. He is survived by his three children: Deborah Hart married to Douglas Hart of Mount Pleasant, SC, David Pilla married to Suzanne Pilla of Mount Pleasant, SC and Mark Pilla married to Megan Pilla of New York, NY. He was the loving "Pop-Pop" to seven grandchildren: Sara and Alyson Hart, Robert and Emily Pilla, and Madeleine, Claire and Henry Pilla. Bob graduated from Villanova University in 1956 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He worked for over two decades at Dean Witter Reynolds in 2 World Trade Center and retired in 1999 as a First Vice President and beloved boss. Bob coached all three of his children for countless seasons in recreational soccer, baseball and basketball in Allendale, NJ. His example of sportsmanship was a positive influence on all who played for him. There will be a Memorial Service to celebrate his life on Saturday, February 7th at the Daniel Island Club at 11AM.
