Robert Phillips Obituary

Robert Phillips N. CHARLESTON - Mr. Robert L. Phillips, age 95, of North Charleston, died peacefully in Rock Hill, SC on June 2, 2024. He was born in Ben Hill, GA to the late Zed and Ruth Phillips. In addition to his parents, Bob is predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Pat; five brothers - Horace, Luther, David, Homer, Carter; and one sister - Patsy. He is survived by two daughters, Sue Young (Tom) and Lou Brown (Warren); three grandchildren, Jamie Brown (Ashley), Becky Larimer (Brian) and Jeremy Young (Amanda); ten great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Colton, Dylan (Ailee Puckett), Thomas, Wyatt, William, Brody, Nolan, Park and Stella; a great-great-grandchild, Delilah; a sister, Betty and a brother, Frank. Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy for twenty years and was a proud Korean War Veteran. After naval service, he also had a long career here in Charleston in hotel maintenance. He was founder of the Whipper Barony Neighborhood Council; "Phillips Park", in the neighborhood bears his name in honor of his dedicated service to the community. He was a City of North Charleston Housing Authority Commissioner. Bob is a life member of the Exchange Club of North Charleston and served as President for multiple terms in addition to other offices and committee chairs. Bob was dedicated to his family and supported his wife and children in all of their endeavors, being call Pat's Taxi for many years. He never missed a pickup! He was always on the sidelines of whatever field or court his girls were on and was the #2 fan; only surpassed by Pat #1. He was often seen at school functions supporting the girls throughout their education and well after. He also enjoyed traveling with Pat during their later years, enjoying visits to Chicago, Niagra Falls, Maine, Pennsylvania and many memorable sites here at home in South Carolina. He was a member of Charleston Heights Baptist Church. The family will receive visitors at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406, at 1pm, followed by a service at 2pm, and interment at 3pm. The family asks that, in lieu of plants, to honor Bob's dedication to a life of service, that you dedicate time or money to your country, community or family in his name. Every good deed or act will multiply and touch more people in the next few weeks; rather than just today.

Sue and Family, I am so sorry for the loss of your father. I know that he was well-loved by you all and I'm sure there was a glorious reunion in heaven when he went to be reunited with your mom. Sending prayers to uplift your family during your time of sorrow. May the Lord be with you during this time and the coming days. Take care, Teresa

Girls, so sorry for your loss. I met Bob through your Mom. I worked with Pat at Southern Bell & would see them at many North Charleston functions later on . Bob was a great guy, always had a smile on his face . Prayers for your family.
