Robert Anderson Obituary

Robert L. Anderson CHARLESTON - Robert L. Anderson, a faculty member at the College of Charleston for 25 years, died Friday after a battle with follicular lymphoma. He was 71 years old. Anderson was born to George and Margaret Anderson on December 17, 1942 in Bombay, India, where he lived for 14 years. His later years were spent in the United States. He served in the US Army and subsequently attended the University of Texas where he earned an MBA and a PhD. In 1979, he joined the faculty of the business department, which later became the School of Business, at the College of Charleston. While there, he was the founder and first director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and the co-author, with John Dunkelberg, of several textbooks. He served as president of the National American Case Research Association (NACRA) from 1988 to 1989 and was later inducted into the Society for NACRA Fellows. Following his retirement in 2004, he was designated professor emeritus at the College of Charleston. In his retirement, Anderson volunteered as a counselor for SCORE (previously known as Service Corps of Retired Executives) but now recognized as SCORE, Counselors of America's Small Business. Anderson is survived by his wife, Kathleen P. Anderson; his sisters, Patricia Terry, (Pembroke Pines, Florida); and Margaret Anderson (Steven) (Locke, New York); his brother-in-law, Forrest Powell (Deanie) (Richmond, Virginia); and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society, 941 Houston Northcutt Boulevard, Suite 203, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464. At the request of the family, there will be no memorial service.
