Richard Curtis Ulstad DANIEL ISLAND - Richard Curtis Ulstad, age 86, died peacefully surrounded by family on November 12, 2025. Richard was a devoted spouse to Shirley Ulstad, his wife of 59 years and the love of his life. He was a supportive father to his three children: Lisa Ringewald (Jeremy), Tracy Ulstad (Timothy Kane), and Rick Ulstad (Melissa). He was an inspiring grandfather to seven grandchildren: Madeline, Joseph, Zoe, Jack, Alex, Miles, and Declan. Born August 7, 1939, in South Dakota, he was the son of the late Milton and Dorothy Ulstad and brother of Gary Ulstad (Cheryl). Richard, an army veteran, spent most of his life in Cleveland, Ohio working as an engineer for several years, and eventually retiring as Senior Vice President at Lincoln Electric. He spent his last few decades enjoying retirement alongside his wife, while traveling, golfing and perfecting the art of gardening on Daniel Island, SC. With his infectious humor, sharp intellect, and keen attention to the interests of those he encountered, Richard touched and was beloved by all who crossed his path. Richard's family will be forever grateful for the love and care provided by staff at Cooper River Post Acute and Lutheran Hospice. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel.
