Richard Moore Obituary

Richard Ward Moore, 67, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 15, 2026. Born on September 18, 1958, in Savannah, Georgia, he was the beloved son of the late Charles Moore Jr. and Clemmie Kilby Moore.

Richard was a devoted husband to Dorothy W. Moore, with whom he shared 29 years with. His family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in always putting them first. Richard was guided by faith and was active in his home Church in Mississippi. He was known as a workaholic who loved providing for his family. Richard spent 40 years of loyal service with Belk, where he built not only a career but lasting relationships. Richard had many enjoyments in life including bowling, watching the Georgia Bulldogs play football, and most of all, spending time with his granddaughter, Hayley (Sunshine).

He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy W. Moore; his son, Michael Paul Thigpen (Pynie); his granddaughter, Hayley Thigpen; his brother and sisters in law: Charlie Weatherford, Gennette McCoy, and Estell Anderson; his friends that became family: John Stouder, Holly Stouder, Brandon, Sarah, Destiny, Stormi, Hazel, Sunshine, and Kasen; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loyal dog, Harley Moore; his brother, Randy Moore and his parents.

A visitation of family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Greater Heights Church of God of Prophecy, 2625 S. Live Oak Drive, Moncks Corner, SC 29461. The funeral service will begin at 2:00pm in the Church. Burial will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC 29406.
