Richard Long Obituary

Richard Allan Long of Mt Pleasant, SC, passed away on September 7th at his home. In following with Rick's outlook on life, "Let's cut to the chase!"
Rick enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends, especially if it was over a spirited game of Euchre. The intensity of which he played carried over into every aspect of his life, from the love he had for his close friends and family, to watching a football game of enjoying a meaningful conversation about life.
Rick was a lover of music, whether he was strumming away on one of the many guitars his father made, delighting in a live band or curating his own concert via a playlist of his favorite artists.
Following in the footsteps of family members before him, Rick enlisted in the service following high school where he served in the Air Force Medical Corps.
Rick his survived by his mother, Patricia (George) Heidenescher of Dayton, OH; wife, Cheryl Valentine of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter, Carrie (Wayne) Chapman of Suffolk, VA; daughter, Chelsea Meyer of Mansfield, OH; daughter, Caitlin Long (Tirso Saavedra) of Kettering, OH; 9 grandchildren; sister, Vicki (Jim) Holder of Hickory, NC; brother, David Long of Brunswick, OH; sister, Lisa Fontechio of Dayton, OH; brother, Jim (Angie) Koon and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Preceding Rick in death was his father, Elvin "Bud" Long; sister, Gina Koon and nephew, Joshua Koon.
