Richard Horton Obituary

Richard Lee Horton, III SUMTER, SC - Richard Lee Horton, III, age 48, beloved husband of Mary McGinty Horton, died on Friday, September 18, 2009, at his residence. He was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, a son of Richard Lee Horton, Jr. and Betty Gail Menshouse Horton. He retired from the US Navy and later worked as a civilian contractor for Spawars. He was honored to serve in the US Navy for his country and loved electronics. He was a very hard worker and will always be remembered as a very loving and patient Father. Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are: three sons, Danny Ecklund and his wife Sandy, Richard Lee Horton IV and his wife Heather and Nicholas Horton, all of Summerville; One daughter Brandi Horton of Summerville, SC; Three brothers, David Horton and his wife Debra of Sumter, Mark and his wife Amy of Marietta, GA, and Tony Horton and his wife Kisha of Sumter; One sister, Regina Horton Kyle and her husband Kenney of Orlando, FL; and one Grandchild, Allanah. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2009, at 3:00 p.m., at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Pressley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2-3 p.m., at Bullock Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of America, 8301 Professional Place, Landover, MD, 20785. Mary, Danny, Lee, Brandi and Nicholas, I am so sorry for your loss. Rich was a dear friend and will be very much missed. He had an amazing personality and a generous heart. Always remember the good times you all shared as a family, he loved you all so much! May your memories bring you comfort in the coming days and weeks! You now have a special angel to watch over you!
