Renee Frisch Obituary

Renee Shimel Frisch Charleston - Renee Shimel Frisch died peacefully in her home Thursday evening, surrounded by her family. She was born February 11, 1920, the daughter of Louis Morris Shimel and Lillian Fechter Shimel, both of Charleston. Renee graduated from the College of Charleston. She was the wife of the late Nat Frisch, the love of her life. Renee was preceded in death by her sisters, Dotty Shimel Dumas, Jenny Shimel Ackerman and Estelle Shimel Traub. She is survived by her children, Randy and Ellen Frisch of Charleston and Bennett Frisch and Michael Burton of Atlanta; her grandchildren, Eric Frisch of Charleston, Kyle Frisch Adams and Clay Adams of Charlotte, NC and Grey Shepherd of Folly Beach; and her 3 great-grandchildren, Reed Frisch, Rhett Adams and Greyson Shepherd. Renee was loved and doted on by her long-term caregiver and devoted friend, Cindy Anderson. The family also greatly appreciates the loving care provided by Shatabia Sumter and Laverne White. Renee was affectionately named "Beautiful" when her oldest grandchild, Eric, was born and the name stayed with her the rest of her life. The name truly described her kind and loving devotion to her family and friends. Her children always came first and the name "Beautiful" was used by all who knew her. She welcomed everyone into her home and charmed them with her southern elegance and wit. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Charleston Animal Society: http://www.charlestonanimalsociety.org/donate/ Or MUSC Children's Hospital: http://www.musckids.org/giving/childrenshospitalfund/donate.htm All services will be private. We will miss Aunt Renee very much. She was indeed beautiful. Charleston without the Shimel girls just isn't the same.
