I shall miss you, Paul

I met Paul in 2008 when I stepped into his office at MWV for an interview. As luck would have it, Paul hired me for the SC Land Sales position with MWV's Community Development & Land Management Group.
Paul was a pleasure to work with. He was very good at what he did. Paul was a great negotiator, and garnered respect among our team, as well as from customers, clients and contractors we worked with.
Paul and I had a great work relationship, he set high expectations and was complementary when appropriate. No matter if he was in agreement or not, Paul wouldn´t hesitate to share his opinion on things as all good leaders do.
In the work environment, whether it was a phone call from Paul, or if in his presence, I had the proclivity to tense up just a bit...perhaps how a soldier would do when a commanding officer walked in the room. That was my "subconscious respect" as I like to call it. He was great at getting your best effort.
I admired Paul´s ascension in the company as he would tell stories about painting company boundary lines in West Virginia when he first started. Fast forward, and in my time with him/the company, we were handling significant real estate transactions of high value and large acreage.
Our annual sales meetings at Cabin Bluff were highlights of my times with Paul. Enjoying great food and beverages, sporting clays, fishing and just relaxing.
I am thankful for my last two visits with Paul this past fall. We were able to catch up and tell stories, some old and some new. We reminisced about my first company sales meeting at the Homestead in WV back in 2008 where Paul failed to miss a doe deer on the final 10+/- miles before the resort after the long drive up from SC. I mentioned the fact that I still have the "Homestead" tag on the wooden hanger for my blue blazer as a regular reminder of the trip.
Tami and family, peace be with you all.
Paul, my friend, may the lord bless you and keep you.
