Paul Cone Obituary

Paul Cone Summerville - Paul Jacob Cone, (87), Retired United States Navy Commander and husband of Dorothy Langford Cone, of Summerville, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021. The relatives and friends of Paul Cone are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 12 Noon on Friday, June 11, 2021, at Parks Funeral Home Chapel, 130 W. 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483. Burial will follow in Rigby Cemetery in Bowman, South Carolina. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Newberry College, 2100 College Street, Newberry, SC 29108 or Dorchester Paws, 136 4 Paws Lane, Summerville, SC 29483. Paul was born in Bowman, South Carolina on April 12, 1934. He was the son of John and Allean Cone. Paul graduated from Summerville High School and Newberry College. Paul played basketball for Summerville High School and went on to play for Newberry College on a full scholarship. Paul was inducted in the Summerville High School 2008 Athletic Hall of Fame. Upon graduation from Newberry College, Paul joined the US Navy and proudly served his country for 20 years. During his 20 year career, Paul and Dot were stationed all over the world and traveled extensively. Both Paul and Dot made lifelong friends while traveling and as always had a good time. Paul loved to fish on the Charleston Rivers with his buddies and play golf. His favorite was traveling up to Williams Brice to watch Carolina football. He and Dorothy were Atlanta Braves fans and made many a trip to Atlanta for the weekend to enjoy the dining as well. Paul began Systems Applications & Solutions, LLC in September of 1998 and his company is still in existence. He could be found there many a weekend working, watching football, and eating boiled peanuts. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy; son, Paul Jacob Cone, II; his daughter, Gwen Kidwell; sisters, Patsy Douglas, Dixie Moran, Sue Glover and Sharon Limehouse, as well as his grandson, Blaine Kidwell and great-granddaughters, Penelope Kidwell and Sophia Kidwell. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Harold Cone; and his sister, Blanche Cherry. The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice nurses and staff for their loving care.
