Because no words can depict sadness and no books can contain all memories, therefore it is better to leave it blank. Rest in peace my mentor.

I first met Pat in 1986 when I chaired the Pharm. Sci. Dept. at Wayne State and Pat was a post-doc in Jim Coward´s lab in Ann Arbor. At that time, we hired Pat to teach a biochem course on a part-time basis for one semester. He not only taught the course with vigor and. enthusiasm but was voted Professor of the Year by the students! It was my pleasure over the years to observe Pat´s phenomenal rise through the ranks to Full Professor and become a leader in medicinal chemistry on the international stage. We became close friends during his years in Detroit and we stayed in close touch even after he left for Charleston. I was totally stunned to learn of his passing and still have a difficult time coming to grips with that reality. My wife Young Hee joins me in sending condolences to his wife Carin and family. Pat truly was an absolute gem of a gentleman.

Pat Woster was a faculty colleague and very good friend of mine in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences; for many years his office was next to mine in Old Shapero Hall. Pat was exceptionally quick-witted and funny. Pat was also brilliant, hard-working, and super-productive as a scientist. And Pat was an exceptional teacher, receiving the "Teacher of the Year" award from the graduating pharmacy students on more occasions than one can count. But what I remember most was Pat´s energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the people around him, his desire to make those around him succeed, no matter what the task/project. In the days before there was an "IT Group", of course Pat stepped up as the unofficial IT group for our college. When a group of students in 1993 wanted to have a first-ever Pharmacy Talent show, of course Pat helped them make it happen, via promotion as well as guitar, song-writing and vocal performances. The term esprit de corps is defined as the spirit of a group that makes the members of the group want to succeed; that´s how I shall remember Pat Woster.
Thank you Pat Woster, and goodbye dear friend.

I am a colleague of Pat's from the medicinal chemistry field. We worked together for some years in the leadership of a division of the American Chemical Society, from which he received many well-deserved accolades. I am deeply saddened by his loss. He was not only a brilliant discoverer of new medicines, but also a great mentor and friend to those who worked with him. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

Pat and I worked closely together at Wayne State in the mid-90s. He was smart, funny and a dedicated educator. We had so many laughs and frustrations over the curricular revisions we were trying to create. I am shocked and saddened by his too early departure- he had so much left to do! My deepest condolences to his sons and wife.

He left the world far too soon that´s for sure:(

Pat was great person, an excellent scientist and a leader in our American Chemical Society Medicinal Chemistry Division. He served our scientific community for many years and was appreciated by all who came into contact with him. I spent also time with him and other colleagues skiing in Steamboat Springs during the Medicinal Chemistry Winter conferences. He will be missed.

I became friends with Pat in about 1967 when we both were roughly 13 years old in Omaha. We quickly became best friends. We spent the next 5 years, our Wonder Years, growing from youthful adolescents to young men as inseparable buddies. We had mutual tastes in music and chased the sounds of rock and roll everywhere we could find it. We grew up in a time when there were few limits to our passions. We did almost everything together and while our professional and geographic paths saw us move away from the company of each other, the bonds formed by those early years together remained. I admired my friend so much and will miss him very much. His humor, his intellect and his incredible intelligence left a huge mark on me. There is a big hole in the universe now as my good buddy `Wosterbird´ has left the building with his guitar and a boatload of great stories. I too will look for you on the other side my brother. Keep on Rockin´! There is a long line of really cool cats just waiting to hook up with you

Pat and I collaborated on a number of research projects over the years at Wayne State and I enjoyed many hours with him talking science and other topics. His laugh was infectious and he was a great guy to hang out with. He will be missed by many. I am so sorry for your loss, Carin.

Dr. Woster was an amazing teacher. Everyone at Wayne State (my alma mater) was so fortunate with learn from him, and spend time with him. He was always uniquely kind and supportive of us PharmD candidates. So sad to hear of his passing.

My condolences to the family. Pat and I became friends at the University of Nebraska as freshmen living in the same dormitory. I have two special memories of our friendship. Pat had a motorcycle at the time and gave me a ride to Omaha in May of 1975. We were caught in a terrible storm with lightning, thunder, torrential rain, wind and the darkest clouds we´d ever seen. When we arrived in Omaha, the massive devastation we witnessed
made us realize we were following one of the costliest tornadoes in Nebraska history!
The second memory is more pleasant. Pat´s good childhood friend, Gus Johnson and the two of us spent a very pleasant weekend camping on Lewis and Clark lake near my hometown of Bloomfield, NE. I specifically remember Pat taking a challenge to chop a considerable log in half with a tiny hatchet, He frantically attacked the job, working up a sweat and entertaining us as he accomplished the task. As I later learned of his myriad of accomplishments, I recalled the efforts of that night by the campfire and wasn´t surprised!!!
Until we meet again my friend!
