Mt. Pleasant - After a long and beautifully lived life, Patricia (Patty) C. Alexander gently went home to glory on Monday, February 23.

Born on February 6, 1943, in Quincy, Illinois, Patty grew up in the sunshine of Florida, where she attended Langdon High School. Her adventurous spirit led her to Florida State University, where she embraced sisterhood as a proud member of Kappa Delta Sorority, before earning her degree from Winthrop College.

During her decades of volunteer service, she served on the boards of the Junior League of Charleston; The Charleston Tennis Club; Charleston Day School; and was a founding member of the Charleston Cotillion. In addition, she gave countless hours to Hospice of Charleston, East Cooper Meals on Wheels, and the Charleston Horticulture Society. She was also a member of the Rebecca Motte chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of St. Andrews Anglican Church in Mt. Pleasant.

Her favorite activities included tennis, bridge, book clubs, and traveling, although by far her greatest joy came from spending time with friends and family. The feasts she prepared for 20 family members every Thanksgiving and Christmas were legendary, as were the untold number of functions she hosted for her wide circle of friends.

Patty is predeceased by her parents, her husband of 26 years, Thomas W Alexander, Sr., and her stepson Thomas W. Alexander, Jr. Survivors are her daughters Trisha Zemke (Mike), Allison Williamson (Bright), and her bonus-children Saida Russell (Chip), Elizabeth Alexander, and Prioleau Alexander (Heidi). Her much-beloved grandchildren include Hayden Zemke, Elizabeth Zemke, Annabelle Zemke, Ben Williamson, Henry Williamson, Gordon Huey, James Huey, and Will Alexander (Olivia). There was much celebration amongst family when Will and Olivia recently provided Patty with her first great-grandchild, Tommy.

A memorial service will be held at St Andrews Anglican Church in Mt. Pleasant at 2pm on Thursday, February 26, with a private interment in the family plot in Sharpsburg, MD. The family invites friends to join them for a visitation at Patty's residence on Wednesday, February 25, 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Rd, Boonsboro, MD 21713.
