Norma Prather Obituary

Norma Jean Prather CHARLESTON - Norma Jean Prather, 87, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 after a short illness. Memorial Services will be held at James Island Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC and First Presbyterian Church in Charleston, WV at a later date. Interment will be in West Virginia. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Jean was born November 30, 1926 in Ward, WV. She graduated from Charleston High School and attended Marshall University before starting work at the DuPont plant in Belle, WV at the outbreak of the World War II. Besides being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she helped manage The Range Restaurant with her parents in Charleston, WV and worked as a real estate agent for over twenty 25 years in the Charleston, WV area. Jean and Hereld enjoyed retirement, but in 2006 they decided to move to Charleston, SC to be closer to their only child and her family. They embraced the "Holy City" quickly with a new home, church and friends. After her husband's death, Jean was blessed to have lived independently near her loving family until this recent illness. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah P. Lambert and son-in-law Paul Lambert, MD of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Lara Lambert, MD of Charleston, SC, Paul Lambert, DMD and wife Erika of Minneapolis, MN, and Leslie Lambert of Atlanta, GA; and three great granddaughters, Taylor Dahl and Ava and Mya Lambert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hereld; parents Garnet "Iggie" and Harry Ballard; and brother, Harry L. "Bubby" Ballard, Jr. Remembrances, in lieu of flowers, can be made to one of the following or a charity of choice in her memory.
