Norma Carlsten Obituary

Norma Jean Carlsten MT. PLEASANT - Mrs. Norma Jean Carlsten, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, SC died Saturday, February 18, 2012 in The Hospice of Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, SC. Born November 19, 1923, in Harrison, IL the daughter of Paul S. and Gladys (Andres) Nath. She grew up in the Freeport, IL area, marrying Roger E. Carlsten on May 17, 1946. Norma Jean raised her family in the Rockford area. Once her children were grown she moved to Poynette, Wis., a.k.a. Lake Wisconsin with her husband. After retiring in Tuscon, AZ due to Roger's health, she managed an apartment complex for many years. In the 80's she moved to Mt. Pleasant, SC to be near her son, and grandchildren. Norma Jean spent her life always busy as a care giver, an avid gardener, and book keeper. She is survived by her son, Alan (Linda) Carlsten of Mt. Pleasant, SC; five grandchildren, Troy (Annette) Hanson of Rocklin, CA, Trent (Vicki) Hanson of Rockford, Christopher Carlsten and Amanda Carlsten of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Megan Carlsten (Nolan) Hughes of Memphis, TN; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; two brothers, Donald (Wilma) Nath of Freeport, and Darrell (Delores) Nath of Loves Park, IL; two sisters, Charlotte Maurer of Loves Park and Darlene (Jack) Richardson of Belvidere, IL; son-in-law, David Hanson of Rockford; sister-in-law, and Caroline Johnson of Rockford. Predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Roger; brother, Kenny Nath; and daughter, Cheryl Hanson. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 2nd Avenue, Rockford, IL. with Pastor Dan Herman officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visit our guestbook at www.postandcourier.com/ deaths

Dear Norma:
I told you not to make me cry. But, that is the selfish me talking and glad you are not in pain anymore. It really was a pleasure knowing you, in good times and bad. I know you will look out for me during those nasty stormy hurricane days. :-D
The truth is your not being here doesn't end our bond – that lives on forever. And you will never be forgotten by me and many others.
