Nancy Welborn Obituary

WELBORN, Nancy EASLEY, S.C. - Nancy Bishop Welborn of 408 Bella Vista Drive, died Sunday, November 13, 2005, at her home after a very courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. She was a beloved wife and mother. Born in Gaffney and raised in Walterboro, Mrs. Welborn was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Katie Gaffney Bishop. She graduated from Walterboro High School and Columbia College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Mrs. Welborn had taught high school in Cincinnati and Charleston. Mrs. Welborn was a member of the Easley Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir. She was a charter member of the Book Club. Elected as the first female trustee of the Pickens County School Board, Mrs. Welborn served for three terms. Surviving are her husband, Dr. Michael K. Welborn, and her son, Michael K. Welborn, Jr., both of the home; a sister-in-law, Nancy W. Hunter; her caregivers, Cindy Midkiff, Barbara Moore, and Mary Moore; and many loving friends. Memorial services will be 3:30 P.M. Tuesday at the Easley Presbyterian Church where the family will receive friends in the church parlor immediately following the service. A private committal service will be 2:45 P.M. Tuesday at Westview Cemetery, Easley. I went to high school in Walterboro with Nancy. We were in the same graduating class. We were also members of First Baptist Church, Walterboro, together. My prayers are with her husband and son. Martha Antley Hughes
