Nancy Ann (Wilhite) Haldrup Indianapolis, IN - Nancy Ann (Wilhite) Haldrup, 91, born August 14, 1930 in Muncie, Indiana, peacefully passed in her sleep, surrounded by her five children, on December 16, 2021. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Anderson, Indiana, where she thrived and learned to love to dance. A passion she followed for decades to come. She graduated from Anderson High School and matriculated to Northwestern University, where she met, fell madly in love, and married Jack Sigurd Haldrup. They lived in Chicago, Indianapolis, and Anderson before settling in Greenfield, Indiana, where she lived until she moved to Indianapolis in 1987 and starting in the late 1990's, spent a couple of months each year at her place in Florida. She travelled the world with Jack, but spent most of her time devoted to her family. She rarely, if ever, missed a recital, performance, or sporting event where one her kids appeared, even if they sang out of tune or were the 13th player on a 12-person team. She tirelessly and humbly volunteered to support any cause. Over the years, she served the Anderson and Hancock County school systems as room mother, seamstress for band, chorus, drama clubs, and sports teams, and led and served on countless fundraisers. She worked in the kitchen, taught Sunday School, and worked at Bradley United Methodist Church. She led the 4-H chapter of Busy Bees where she influenced the lives of girls and young women. As an active member of many organizations, she held many roles with Tri-Kappa, Meals-on-wheels, Planned Parenthood, the Hancock County Hospital and its gift shop, the Hancock County Mental Health Association, the American Heart Association, the United Way, the Boys and Girls club of Greenfield, the Propyleaum, the Cosmopolitan Club, the Republican Party, and the Indianapolis Symphony, to name a few. She served her community without ever seeking recognition and did more behind the scenes to make her community a better place for those less fortunate than will ever be known. In the early 1990s she founded Nana Camp, where each year she took her grandchildren for a week and showered them with her love and life lessons, all while taking them on trips to the Zoo, the Children's Museum, the Dinner Theater, movies, go-carting, and daily swims on her lake. They are all better people today because of their Nana and her guidance. She relentlessly followed the Colts, Pacers, Hoosiers, Boilers, and more recently, the Clemson Tigers. She knew the players and often watched multiple games at a time. Her teams lost a big fan. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Davis Wilhite and Marcella Marie (Gossett) Wilhite; her husband, Jack Haldrup of 32 years; and her beloved sister, Patti Stoops. She is survived by her loving children: Bob (Kathy) Haldrup, Linda (Randy) Shields, Andy (Kim) Haldrup, Jane (Robert) Vowell, and Neil Haldrup; wonderful grandchildren: Erin Perrazzelli, Adam Shields, Brittany Hewitt, Jack Haldrup, Betsy Forrer, Ellen Turner, Abby Myers, Kate Haldrup, Ben Vowell, Luke Vowell, Riley Haldrup, Emma Vowell, Jenson Haldrup, and Garrett Haldrup; 11 awesome great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Eva Clauson and Jean Stap; 3 nieces: Chris Lacaria, Sandy Cliffton, and Sue Kust; and many friends. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana.
