Miller Gardner Obituary

Miller Mack Gardner SUMMERVILLE - Miller Mack Gardner, 14, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025. Born October 24, 2010 in Charleston, Miller was the son of Jessica and Brett Gardner. Miller was an active 8th grade student at Pinewood Preparatory School, where he was a member of the middle school football team and junior varsity baseball team, as well as the school Honor Roll. Outside of school, his hobbies included golf, fishing, hunting, riding dirt bikes, and traveling to new places with his family. Miller is survived by his loving parents and older brother, Hunter, all of Summerville, South Carolina; grandparents, Faye & Jerry Gardner, Susan Clendenin, Tom Clendenin (Carrie), uncles, Glen Gardner, Josh Clendenin (Jobria), JT Clendenin; four first cousins, and many extended family members who considered him their own and will miss his smile that brought joy to all. The void Miller's passing leaves in the hearts of his family, friends, teammates, teachers, coaches and others will be felt for years. The Gardner family will forever cherish the places they visited, the people they met, the friends they made, and the memories they created together. Miller's time here with them was brief but his spirit will carry on forever through those who were impacted by the way he lived. Miller was so blessed with experiences and friendships in his 14 years, and he would want other children to have the opportunity to create their own wonderful memories. Because of this, the family asks for any memorial donations to be made in Miller's honor to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a non-profit helping fulfill wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, at www.wish.org. The Gardners have seen the organization's impact firsthand on numerous occasions and have always been deeply moved by the hope, strength, and inspiration each wish provides for children and families facing difficult times. In this time of unimaginable loss, the family prays that joy and healing will come to others who share their grief. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and close friends. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel. A memorial message may be sent to the family by visiting our website at www.jhenrystuhr.com.

Hunter, Jessica, and Brett,
This just shouldn´t have happened...really hard to wrap your head around Millers passing.
I´ve been so deeply saddened by it. I´m a mom of two boys (Dario 20 and Dante 18)...and lately I´ve been thinking more of Miller than my own sons.
As I get older, I find when a young person passes before their time, it´s really hard to accept.
So my thoughts and feelings and energy are with you. We´ll all see Miller on the other side!

We are so sorry to hear of your family´s loss of your beautiful son. The grief that comes with the loss of a child is the worst pain the human body can endure. We were told when we lost our son "you are now part of a club that no one ever wants to join". I wish no parent ever had to join this heartbroken club. All I can tell you is to be kind to yourself during this time. Your life will be different from here on out. The grief will come in waves and you will feel like going under. You will feel like you are learning to live half alive. Lean into your family...keep each other from drowning. You will feel every emotion...be each other´s strength to get through one day at a time. Don´t get too stressed about what comes next. Take the time you need to grieve for as long as you need. Lean into God...he´s here to pull you through your darkest hours. Know without a shadow of a doubt that your son is still nearby...he´s in another realm that we cannot see, like being on the other side of a veil. You now know an angel by name. Talk to him...he hears you. He will send you signs that he´s ok...pay attention to the smallest details. When you think it´s Miller sending you signs, don´t second guess...it is him reaching out. Find ways to include him...we take packs of forget me nots on every trip and sow them in beautiful fields all over the world for our Josh. Just know that you will see him again. And what a beautiful day that will be.

You are not alone, I am also a parent who has lost a son and because we loved so hard our children that is why our pain is so hard. The tcf compassionate friend 50 plus years going is a groups of parents around the world who have lost children. There are groups local who meet every third Tuesday in your area or you can go on line to their website for comfort. They bring comfort as no one understanding understands like we do and I will keep you in my prayers and remember God is by your side everyday to get you through this. I miss my son Alex everyday.

I remember this poem from when I lost my baby I don't know who wrote it. When you lose your parents you are a orphan, when you lose your wife you are a widower, when you lose your husband you are a widow but when you lose your child there is no word for this because it's not supposed to happen that way. It's been 33 years sense we lost her and you never get over it but you do learn to live with it. I honestly believe I will see her again as you will see your son. God Bless You All.

To the Gardner family,
My heart breaks for you all, and you have been in my prayers. I lost my handsome 33 year old son 2 years ago to sudden cardiac arrest. Needless to say, our world was shattered. To Jessica, I know how your Mama heart is breaking, it doesn't matter their age, they are still our baby boys. To Brett, this will be such a hard journey for your family, show each other grace because emotions will be hard, especially for Jessica. To Hunter, your brother will always be with you in your heart, your lives have changed in an instant, don't be embarrassed by showing your emotions, they are real. We will pray for your family. God Bless, Kevin and Lauri Walker

He Only Took My Hand

"Last night while I was trying to sleep,

My son's voice I did hear

I opened my eyes and looked around,

But he did not appear.

He said: "Mom you've got to listen,

You've got to understand

God didn't take me from you, mom

He only took my hand.

When I called out in pain that night,

The instant that I died,

He reached down and took my hand,

And pulled me to His side.

He pulled me up and saved me

From the misery and pain.

My body was hurt so badly inside,

I could never be the same.

My search is really over now,

I've found happiness within,

All the answers to my empty dreams

And all that might have been.

I love you all and miss you so,

And I'll always be nearby.

My body's gone forever,

But my spirit will never die!

And so, you must all go on now,

Live one day at a time.

Just understand-

God did not take me from you,

He only took my hand."

The depth of grief and the ripple effect of the loss of a child is known only to those who have lost a child. My 18 year old son, Chad, died 9/4/09 instantly as a result of a car accident. And your whole world goes with them. You need to learn to live again in a world that somehow seems so foreign. I am so very sorry this grief and loss has touched your family. Something in your son's smile reminds me of my son's smile. It is a long road ahead and there is no such thing as closure. Don't let anyone tell you how to grieve; it is individual for everyone. In time, in your own time, you will be able to know that your son is no further than your heart. My son is the light that shines in my life and I smile and I laugh now ... just like he did. But it takes time. God bless you and your family.

Brett, Jessica, and Hunter,

Earthly words cannot express the sorrow we feel for you all. Know that you are in our prayers and in our thoughts as you go through this time. You all are loved- by family, friends, and fans. I pray that God comforts each of you, like only He can, and no matter the darkness on the horizon, God is in control, and He has a perfect plan.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me, and come and pray to Me and I will listen." Jeremiah 29:11,12
