Mildred Behning Obituary

Mildred A. (Rushenberg) Behning, 91, died May 14, 2005, in Roseville, Minn., surrounded by her family. She was born July 4, 1913, in Red Cedar, Wis., to John and Hulda Rushenberg. Mildred led a rich, full life. She had fond memories of the 14 years she was employed, in the personnel department at Glass Block Department Store in downtown Duluth and in the office of the Morgan Park Medical Center from which she retired in 1980 after 35 years of service. Mildred belonged to and was active in the Antique Toy and Doll Club and the American Association of Medical Assistants. She was proud of her volunteer work at the Historical Union Depot in Duluth. Mildred enjoyed tending her yard and garden, caring for her pets both domestic and wild, spending time with family, and reminiscing about growing up in Fond du Lac where she delighted in her reputation as local historian. Mildred was a very social person and made many friends throughout her long life. Mummer, Mildred or Auntie Mildred's warm smile and mischievous sense of fun will be deeply missed by family and friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1996; her parents; and her brothers, Elmer, Harold, Lynn and Kenneth. She is survived by cousins, Pearl Sundstrom, Edith Trembach; Lorraine Olson, Lois Maine and Lucille Jonell; sister-in-law, Irene Rushenberg; nieces and nephews, Kathryn Ziehl, John Rushenberg, Willis Watson, David Rushenberg, Marilyn Rushenberg, Terrance Rushenberg, Carol Rushenberg, Janice Larson, Roberta Rushenberg, Gerald Rushenberg, David Rushenberg, Terry Jean Caldwell, Mark Rushenberg, Valerie Stortz, Linda Mrozik, and their families. CELEBRATION OF LIFE:1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, in Bell Brothers Funeral Home. There will be visitation from 11:30 until the funeral service. Burial will be at Oneota Cemetery following the service.

We are the Behning side of the family of Mildred and we're very sorry to hear that she died. We weren't notified and feel terrible that we weren't able to attend any of the memorials. She was a lovely lady, a dear Sister-in-Law to Delores and a caring Aunt to us. May she and Bill rest together in peace.

Mildred was my Sunday School teacher in the Fond du Lac Church in the early 40s. Saw her last at the FDL Reunion a few years ago. My sincere sympathy to the family.
