Michael Uricchio Obituary

Michael Anthony Uricchio, Sr. CHARLESTON - Michael Anthony Uricchio, Sr., 71, father to three sons, Michael A. Uricchio, Jr. (Krista Collier), Nicholas B. Uricchio (Morgan) and Jacob K. Uricchio, all of Charleston, SC, died Thursday, March 7, 2024. Michael was born January 20, 1953, in Charleston, SC, a son of the late Paul "The Pope" N. Uricchio, Jr. and the late Mamie Odom Uricchio. He grew up with his brother, Paul "Ricky" Uricchio (deceased) and his sister, Debra U. Myers. Michael attended Bishop England High School and graduated from St. Andrews High School. He received his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of South Carolina and graduated from the University of South Carolina, School of Law in 1988. Michael practiced law in Charleston for over 35 years. Michael was a man of many talents with a bigger personality. He grew up in South Windermere in West Ashley. During this time, Michael also received a black belt in Ju Jitsu. Later in life, Michael fell in love with speed. He raced stock cars at Summerville Speedway and earned the nick name "Wreckamo Uricchio". He was honored with "the wreck of the century" award when his car flipped down the front stretch of the speedway. Micheal also was an avid motorcycle rider for many years. Never a person to shy away from a new challenge, Michael taught himself how to paint with pastels. He was honored to be a past President of the Pastel Society of Charleston. Over the years Michael helped countless people with their addiction issues. He was always there to help people along on their path to sobriety or other problems and made many friends along the way. In addition to his three sons and his sister, he is survived by his grandson, Taylor Pope Uricchio and his step-grandson, Lake Fisk (Michael Jr); Plaintiff #1, Claire Hoefer (mother of Michael and Nicholas); Plaintiff # 2, Sandy Senn (Mother of Jacob); his sister-in-law, Nancy Uricchio (Ricky); his life-long friend, O. Mike was a man of no BS, he and I met thru Bill .W and he became friends with both my father and I, I made a few poor life choices along the way and Mike did two things for me , 1st was taught me not to do it again because he gave no breaks on the amount I paid, and it worked 2 was let me get the consequences anyhow and to this day I thank him because had he just allowed me to buy my way out of trouble I wouldn't have learned, so call him a father figure, speaking a father's Mike and my dad put some miles behind them on there Harleys living the ultimate freedom, I lost Dad back in 2018 and miss him dearly, with faith and the knowledge my dad taught me I've made it thru the hardest part, so if Mike's children see this,my prayers are with you and your dad was a standup guy I just spoke to about 6 months ago and he said he was doing ok so to learn of this is heart breaking but Mike big guy if you see this I hope you and dad and all the other great gone before us are riding with the Lord and until I can join the pack please rest in peace forever!!!! Yours truly Steve.A jr

For many years I had lunch with Michael once or twice a week. I enjoyed his company. Many laughs mixed in with serious discussions about life and death. We grew apart the last few years which I regret. We all have a final morning. I pray the spirit of Michael Uricchio is in the comfort of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Peace be still.

What a prince and I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. Michael and I both clerked for Lourie Law Firm and had great times making the Basement Tapes. He had compassion only a friend of Bill can bring you. Easy does it, Mike.

Michael became a dear friend when I moved to Charleston from New York City in 2006. I was part of his old ladies club. We lunched together along with his beloved brother Ricky and laughed after many a meeting together. He would bring Jacob along for breakfast when he would only eat bacon those were happy times. Michael had the heart the size of the universe but would try very hard to hide it. He was always there to help anyone who asked. He was always there for me no matter what. Even when I asked him to fix a traffic ticket. I will miss him. I will miss his sarcastic wit and the way he would get frustrated at situations that were beyond his control. I have so many good memories to many to mention. He was my friend and someone I loved. Rest in peace my friend you will always be in my heart.

Mike was a larger than life guy. We were best friends in law school, and afterwards, he established a significant criminal-law practice. He never turned away anyone who was in trouble. I’ll miss him.
