Michael Mowrer Obituary

Michael Emerson Mowrer MT. PLEASANT - Michael Emerson Mowrer, 65, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away on May 28, 2021. He was the son of the late Beatrice Guyton and Melvin H. Mowrer, Sr. and was born in Lancaster, PA. Mike is survived by his brother, Melvin H. Mowrer, Jr. (Wendy). Although Mike never had children, he was loved and cherished by his brother's children - Melissa Dabbs (Brett), Michael D. Mowrer (Krista) and Melanie Rauch (Kevin). He was a great uncle to 9 nieces and nephews. He also had 2 great-great-nephews and a great-great-niece. He is also survived by his aunts Becky Vann and Sybil Houston, as well as four first cousins whom he dearly loved; Jenny Crouse (Mike), Mark Vann, Matthew Vann (Janet), and Ross Houston (Kim). There are many other cousins, stepfamily and friends who loved him. Mike loved and was talented in sports, playing football, softball and racquetball and was a runner. In his earlier years he was nicknamed 'the Bruiser'. He later played in the Mt. Pleasant softball league. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan and often called in to the local sports show to discuss them. The 2018 Super Bowl was, of course, a big deal to him. For the past few decades he took great care of his mother, until her death last August. If you ever met Mike, you saw his humor and kind spirit. He is greatly missed.
