Melinda Ballard Obituary

My thoughts are with you and your family Melinda. I was also suffering with Mycotoxin illness in the 90´s as a teenager at the same time you and your family were, and after repeated exposure to moldy living situations throughout my lifetime, the illness is harder than ever to deal with.

My favorite Forensic Files episode is your episode, Breaking The Mold, and over 20 years later, it´s still so ahead of its time. Watching it gives me so much hope and a sense of peace that mold sufferers aren´t alone and it´s often a hidden illness since conventional doctors refuse to believe in it or treat it.

I´m so sorry you and your family suffered so much, but I know you are with them together on the other side. Your lives were not lived in vain and your story remains an inspiration for chronically ill people and continues to bring awareness to the fact that mold and even inactive/dead mycotoxins are indeed toxic. Thank you so much.

Melinda, I´ve seen your story on forensic files many times and it has saddened me every single time. It seems like those who try to do the best are always taken long before their time. From seeing the other beautiful messages it´s clear to me that your impact on humanity was truly remarkable. I´m so sorry you died so young and that you and your family dealt with the atrocities you did at the hands of your homeowners insurance. I hope you are resting peacefully and that if heaven is real that God has treated you every so graciously.

Just watched your story again on Forensic Files, and was shocked and saddened to learn of Melinda's passing at the very end. Hope Bryan and Reese are doing OK, though I know it must be difficult without her. Just wanted to add my condolences to the many already posted. RIP, Melinda--you lived an exceptionally good life and will never be forgotten!

Mrs. Ballards legacy is a lasting one! I still share her story and website when people mention they have problems with leaks or are working on a case related to mold. This family had everything and misfortune tragically ended their happiness and wellbeing. Yet, Melinda still fought for others and for justice. May she Rest In Peace!

It's 9/11/18 and I just finished watching your story on forensic files. I wanted to look up your family's story- you drew me in and I wanted to see more about what you were doing. I hope your husband and son have found peace in your research and diligence in bringing those responsible to justice. I first learned about Mrs. Ballard and her family on a recent viewing of Forensic files for their case involving the toxic mold. I did not know her before then. My sympathy to her family and their truly tragic loss. It is very sad and I will pray for your wellness and strength to get through this.

As have many I watched forensic files and I have black mold growing in my basement. And I'm very concerned . Now after researching your name I see you are no longer here and it saddens me... rip and thank you for your dedication to mold awareness

Sept 11, 2016, I was just watching the episode and I immediately came to her website. OMG.. I'm so shocked it took my breath away when I read she had passed away. May she rest in peace.

My deepest sympathy to all of Melinda Ballard's family, friends, and loved ones. I wish that I could have known her, as I, too, am also a mold survivor. I am so deeply touched that Mr. Fanning is so generously keeping her memory, her legacy, and her contributions alive to educate, help, and inspire others who are suffering through the silent epidemic of Stachybotrys/Toxic Encephalopathy/Mycotoxin Poisoning Exposure and the truly harsh and permanent life-altering resulting consequences. I am grateful for all that she did to enrich the lives of others.

I was shocked to learn of Melindas passing almost three years ago. I watched Forensic Files and googled Melinda to see how she was getting along since that horrible mold issue in Texas. God Bless,RIP Melinda !

I was watching Forensic Files, and have seen Melinda and Ron's story multiple times, I attempted to check her website Policyholders of America and discovered it was no longer active, and then saw first link saying she passed. Although, I did not know Melinda, she appeared to be a very articulate and smart woman just based on what I saw of her on TV. May, she rest in peace, and her son Reese carry on her legacy.

I am so deeply sorry to learn about Melinda's passing. Melinda was such an amazing woman, a bright and shining light for humanity, a fearless warrior who fought for the rights of millions of others. Even though I never met her in person, we had numerous communications and I felt a deeply-connected kindred spirit with her mind and soul. May God eternally bless Melinda and her family. She was one of kind, a one in a million, and will be forever missed by all those who respected and admired her. God Bless You Melinda!

I first saw their story on Forensic Files in 2013 - I subscribed to POA - and got all updates - then suddenly stopped. She will RIP - knowing how many people and her sight helped so many. Hoping family is still well.

I was shocked; I'd thought about Melinda several times lately and talked about her to my g'children - how kind and empathetic she was. I didn't know her personally, but she & I e-mailed several times back & forth...I feel like I've lost a close friend. God bless her loved ones. RIP, dear lady.

We are sorry to hear this. My family just watched the episode on forensic files. We had a deep conversation about how mold affects people and looking at Melinda story - it triggered a moment an event in our lives - looking back we were experiencing mold, had many of the symptoms. We are 100% sure now from watching Melinda story that was mold. There was a lot of black mold on the walls of our old house we never seen anything like that before, we were young and just continued to paint over the black spots year after year. Thank you for educating me and my family about how harmful mold can be. Our thoughts and prayers goes out to her husband, son and family. Melinda was such a valiant lady. I only know of her story through the FF story and the internet. I am so sorry for all. She was a "Voice" for so many others. I feel as if I lost a friend without ever having known her.

I watched Melinda's episode of Forensic Files last night and was checking her website this morning. I am so sorry to discover she has died. May you rest in peace, Melinda. Evidently this episode has ran several time judging from other entries submitted. Thank you for continuing to run this important episode. May it run many more times until the message is heard by all. I am a mold survivor. My only source of knowledge and encouragement during my ordeal was Melinda. She was truly one of a kind. She knew intimately the destruction caused by mold. She helped me to see what I must do. In a world of inaccurate knowledge she was the only light. She gave freely and generously always. I am deeply grieved to learn of her death. Thank you to her family and friends who shared this wonderful person with so many troubled souls.

I was so impressed with the Ballard family and their courageous fight. For years I've passed POA's information to anyone who would mention a water leak in my presence. It saddens me to find out that Melinda died so young. She must be terribly missed by her Mr. Ballard, their son and all those that depended on her valor. May she rest in peace!

I spent some time during the nightmare of mold invasion at her home in Texas. I planted high metabolism plant material there to help pump water away from the house. I moved away before the result of this was known. I have told the story of Melinda to many people since and her stand vs insurance companies involved. She was a very nice and intensely present woman. this is a great loss. It is over a year since she passed and it is sad to learn.

I am so very grateful for Mrs. Ballard's life and advocacy.
